IKON is used to recognising extended periods of service within our team. But the end of February was an extra special milestone as 15 of our team placed at Crown celebrated 15 of service with IKON!
We celebrated with a formal presentation to the team members from IKON’s founder and Managing Director, George Tahan.
We take this opportunity to congratulate and thank all our passionate and dedicated staff, who celebrated this milestone. Your commitment to IKON is truly appreciated. It is people like you that makes IKON the company it is.

On 13/2/2008, the then PM Kevin Rudd moved a motion of Apology to Indigenous Australians. This was a formal apology on behalf of the successive parliaments and governments whose policies and laws “inflicted profound grief, suffering and loss on these our fellow Australians”. Today we remember and commemorate the mistreatment of our Indigenous peoples as part of an ongoing process of reconciliation. We come together and share the journey towards healing for the Stolen Generations, their families and communities. Part of the work of healing is recognizing the ways that we may have harmed others. We start healing when we feel heard. On National Apology Day, IKON honours the wisdom of our first peoples, we recognise and listen to their stories.
Teams in all departments throughout IKON have been working tirelessly to keep our business and customers strong. We take this opportunity to say thank you.
Thank you for keeping healthy. Thank you for practicing good hand hygiene and for following social distancing guidelines. Thank you for helping our communities slow the tide of this wide spread pandemic that has overthrown our way of life. This includes our font-line workers, our cleaners, supervisors and managers who have operated in high risk environments and functioned so professionally to help our clients manage COVID-19 and the new-normal.
We stand with all IKON staff and first line responders undertaking important infectious control cleaning. You have risen to the challenge, made sacrifices and shown unparalleled dedication, commitment and resilience. Our deepest gratitude for your contribution and efforts.
Speak to any Victorian and they’ll tell you how tough we did it during lockdown. After 9 long months, the sun is finally out and we have the opportunity now to enjoy this once thriving city again. With many of our clients re-opening their doors we encourage everyone to Let’s Melbourne Again. Get on the back of this inspiring vision by Melbourne’s most iconic brands to reinvigorate the Melbourne we all love. Visit some of our most loved venues to once again fill them with people, laughter, life and vitality. Let’s get back on our feet Melbourne and let’s do it in a COVID safe way. Let’s be responsible but let’s enjoy the freedoms we once took for granted and support our beautiful city again.
IKON is proud to be providing cleaning, hygiene and waste services to these spectacular venues during challenging times.
This week is NAIDOC Week. It is dedicated to celebrating the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It’s a wonderful opportunity not only for Indigenous communities but for all Australians to participate in acknowledging the First Nation’s peoples story by recognising and embracing one of oldest continuing cultures in the world. It’s about seeing, hearing and learning about the 65,000+ year history of this country.
IKON kicks this week off with an Aboriginal Proverb and a reminder that we still have so much to learn.

On Remembrance Day, the IKON community takes this opportunity to acknowledge the courage and sacrifice of those Australians who served our country. We value the peace they fought so hard to achieve and the acts of heroism that defined their strength. They gave their tomorrow so we can have our today.
Lest We Forget.
