IKON’s INNOVATE RAP Endorsed by Reconciliation Australia
During National Reconciliation Week 2025, IKON Services is proud to announce that our INNOVATE Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) has been officially endorsed by Reconciliation Australia.
This endorsement marks a pivotal milestone following the successful completion of our REFLECT RAP, and it signals a deepening of our commitment to reconciliation.
Led by Nick Walker and Jessica Tahan, our INNOVATE RAP builds upon the solid groundwork laid over the past five years. From day one, we’ve understood that reconciliation isn’t just an intention – it’s a responsibility. That’s why, even as we were engaging in the formal drafting process with Reconciliation Australia, we didn’t wait. We’ve already been proactively delivering on our commitments, ensuring that our actions speak louder than words.
Some of our early progress includes:
- Expanding partnerships with First Nations businesses, supporting economic empowerment through meaningful commercial relationships.
- Collaborating with like-minded organisations who share our values and commitment to reconciliation.
- Investing in internal cultural competency, helping teams and leaders deepen their awareness and understanding.
In November 2024, we held a Yarning Time Workshop led by proud Noongar woman Kirby Bentley, alongside Diversity & Inclusion Specialist Isabella Birtles. Together with our teams and clients, we explored IKON’s purpose, values, and role in reconciliation through storytelling and creative expression.
The result? A stunning artwork completed in March 2025, representing a family-run business rooted in kinship, responsibility, and cultural values. Central to the design are Yonga (kangaroos), symbolising the strength of Elders, encircled by patterns that reflect connection to Country.
We’ve proudly incorporated this artwork not just in our RAP, but across IKON lanyards, notebooks, and other creative applications still to come. It’s a visible and daily reminder of the journey we’re on.
Now, as we formally enter the INNOVATE RAP phase, we’re committed to:
- Deepening partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and businesses.
- Enhancing procurement practices to increase opportunities for First Nations suppliers.
- Elevating cultural capability in alignment with the five dimensions of reconciliation:
- Race relations
- Equality and equity
- Institutional integrity
- Unity
- Historical acceptance
This RAP isn’t just a plan. It’s a living, evolving commitment to embed reconciliation in every part of IKON — from operations and procurement to people, culture, and leadership.
We recognise that reconciliation is a shared journey — and one we walk alongside First Nations peoples, guided by respect, honesty, and collaboration.
IKON’s INNOVATE RAP reflects our aspirations, yes — but more importantly, it reflects our accountability.
